J & S Invisible Repairs has accomplished some amazing repairs in a variety of types of home furnishings.

Back Splat Section Missing

The left side of this back splat was missing. I replaced it.

This shows the carving.

The finished splat looks pretty good.

Corner Chair - top Rail  Section Missing

2.5 Inch Area Of Top Rail, Left Of Center Was Missing.

This Upside Down View Displays the Clamping Form Used.

The Form Consisted Of A Plastic Shield And A Wooden Clamping Plate.

The Epoxy Used Was A Slow Curing Resin Type That Was Allowed To Flo Just Below The Original Surface.

Then A Wood Repair Epoxy Was Added Over The Stronger Epoxy.

The Wood Repair Was Then Sanded Level.

Stain And Finish Completed The Job.

Replacement of Top Rail on Small Chest

The top back rail was broken . I removed the broken section.

I created a duplicate back rail and finished it to match.

It was then installed.

Marquetry Entertainment Center

We were asked to convert this chest on chest into an entertainment center.

The before photos display a very weather beaten surface

The left front foot is missing.

I made a duplicate foot.

The finish was flaking and worn off in several areas.

It was disassembled for regluing.

the customer gave me carte blanche as far as color went.

Next a support rig was fashioned

Leather wraps and brass tacks

Belter Rosewood Baroque Chair
 In the mid-1800's, the use of lamination had been known for some time. However, Belter created a technique that steamed four to 16 layers of wood in “cawls,” or molds. The layers were bent into an endless variety of shapes and then carved. A leaf and grapes with graceful tendrils was one of his many designs.
